OEM Mopar Fuel Filters
Whether you drive a car, a truck, or an SUV, the gas it runs on still contains contaminants left over from its production process. If not for your OEM fuel filter, they'd not only build up in your fuel pump but also your fuel injectors and the rest of your engine. At that point, they'd become a serious problem.
Most vehicles -- Chrysler or Dodge, Jeep or RAM -- have two types of fuel filters. One is a strainer, which you can find in the fuel tank. The other, you can find in the main fuel line. If either gets clogged or degraded from age, other issues follow. In short, it'd get trickier for your fuel system to move its gas, and that'll lead to engine trouble.
Symptoms of a Bad Fuel Filter
Luckily, there are symptoms to indicate your fuel filter is going bad, and they're relatively easy to spot. They include:
- The Check Engine light lit up on the dashboard
- Rough starts
- A lagging or stalling engine
- Engine misfires
- Shuddering during idling
- Being unable to start your vehicle at all
Complete engine failure, however, usually means fuel filter failure. Seeing any of these signs? You'll need to get a better idea of what's happening. Plug in a code reader and run a careful inspection. If the results say you've got fuel filter problems, your best option is to replace them.
