OEM Mopar Radiators
What your vehicle's radiator does isn't complicated. It helps keep your engine running cool enough to prevent an overheat. How car radiators work generally, though -- that's a little more so. The process in any make's models starts with coolant, also called antifreeze. This liquid traps the heat your engine produces as a normal byproduct of its operation. Coolant moves back and forth through radiator hoses, between inlet hoses and outlet hoses specifically. A radiator cap pressurizes it as it moves. At the end of the cooling process, a set of fins on your radiator expel the heat. A fan then helps scatter it. The result: your engine works better and lasts longer. Any radiator can go bad, however. When it does, it causes other problems, such as heater and air conditioner malfunctions, engine overheats, and total engine shutdown.
What are the Signs of Radiator Problems?
The short answer: odd engine noises, fin damage, antifreeze turning gooey, and a sweet, syrupy aroma. The last is ethylene glycol, and it usually indicates an antifreeze leak. If you think radiator failure is the problem, take a look at your vehicle's temperature gauge first. Its needle or digital display will show you whether your engine's running hot. Then, do a full inspection. If the results call for replacement, a genuine Mopar radiator will fit your make and model best.
