OEM Mopar Hoses & Pulleys
Hoses and pulleys are two types of auto parts that are integral to how well your vehicle runs. Hoses help move parts using hydraulic (liquid) pressure, while pulleys move belts and other pulleys. There's a hose or pulley for just about every automotive system.
Radiator hoses, for instance, carry coolant between engines and radiators. Heater core hoses, for another example, push hot coolant through car heating and air conditioning systems, warming the interior. Fuel hoses connect gas tanks and engines in older models. Brake hoses move brake fluid so it can charge brake calipers. Air intake hoses help oxygenate engines to regulate their air-to-fuel ratios, and there are even hoses for oil coolers, PCV valves, and more.
Pulleys, on the other hand, are of two main types: crank and accessory. Most, a main crank pulley drives; it's bolted to a vehicle's crankshaft. As an engine runs, its crank pulley rotates, and the motion produced gets sent to others, like idler and tensioner pulleys, via the serpentine belt or V belt.
When Should I Replace Car Hoses & Pulleys?
When to change both is straightforward. Most hoses, you should change at least every 4 years. With pulleys, look for the signs they're bad. They range widely and can include everything from a vibrating engine, alternator and power steering pump failure, and transmission damage to irregular idling speed, visible wear, systems damage, squealing, grinding, and accessory failure.
